OK guys I have to try a straight razor. I would like to buy from someone on the board but i want to know which razors to look for. I'm not looking for the super expensive and ornate blades yet i need something i can afford but is of decent quality that will hold an edge. Point me in the right direction guys and i read somewhere here about $30 good quality strops from someone maybe it was "Tom"not sure may be wrong.

If you want a good cheap, but quality starter strop I recommend getting the Filly from Ken over a RupRazor.com. It will run you $20 and that's including the shipping, but rest assure it is a quality strop.

As for the actual razor, try contacting either Leighton or Ambrose, two of our members here. Both sell quite a few razors on here, seem like great guys, and can probably help hook you with a nice razor to start out on.

Pretty much any razor you find on the B/S/T will be a good razor, and most likely it will be shave-ready as well. Just go find one you like and then wait for the ADs to begin

Ambrose thanks but i already paid for the straight i was offered this won't be my only one and I'm sure I'll be looking for more straights here soon. I will definitely be getting more.

Thats a little too small for a beginner. I won't sell anything smaller than 4/8" and thats pushing it. Smaller straights are harder to keep flat on the strop, have less weight behind them, and are harder to judge angle with.

But its a great moustache trimmer!
