Odd blade

Just received a razor from eebay. Inside is an odd looking old blade: it's a Safe-T-Guard Face Guard with some odd teeth-shaped ridges running along and over the two cutting edges. I'm guessing they were meant to limit the blade's contact with the skin, and dragging the edge lightly along my thumb does nothing whereas any other blade would draw blood. So I guess the safety feature does kind of work...but how good of a shave can did a blade like this give you?

The concept of that razor sounds very similar to how the Bumpfighter by Personna is designed to work. The idea is to sacrifice the closeness of the shave, in order to avoid irritation.

Here is a link to the Bumpfighter:

That's a face guard blade made by Personna... It came on the market in '69 but I don't know when it left the shave aisle for good.
Looks like this:

You can see on the Personna website that they still manufacture this style, but sell it as medical prep blade.

Yep, that's the one. Can't tell it's in good shape or not, but I don't plan to shave with it to find out, even tho I boiled it along with the razor (blade came really clean afterwards). thanks for the help, fellas
