Next Razor

Hi Guys

I have been shaving for about 3 months with my HD, which I am very happy with. However this DE hobby is additive and want to get another razor. I was thinking of the Merkur Progress as I think it looks a lovely piece of kit.

What do you think; is the progress a good choice as a second razor?

It's not a bad choice but if you have not tried a Gillette SuperSpeed or Schick Krona, you have not lived (shaved) yet. (and you can have them both together cheaper than one Progress)

Post HD, I recommend the Gillette NEW.

The progress is a good second razor. After that, they you could get the slant.

The Progress would be a good choice. If you don't like the look of the plastic knob you can get a Mergress. I believe Cooncat Bob also makes a brass adjustment knob for the razor.

Post HD, I recommend the Gillette NEW.

Best razor ever IMO.

I also love my 1958 Gillette fat boy and '61 Slim.

HD is a good one. I used that for my first DE too but then I found that Old Gillettes are just amazing.

Merkur is OK but you really need to make the break to classic Gillettes....

I think the vintage Gilletes are fine for DE shavers, but a Merkur HD Slant with Feather blades is the gold standard. IMHO. Unless of course, you decide to go straight!
