What's new

New RV custom

It's always the way, isn't it? You shave in the morning, having put it off as long as possible to use your new toys. But as you're staring at your devastatingly handsome mug in the mirror, guiding your razor over your roguish real-estate, a small voice in the back of your head is whispering "It will arrive today. You won't be able to use right away. You will have to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait."

Well, it happened today. My new RV custom arrived today, and I need to wait until Saturday to use it. It is a Finest 22mm knot set at ~47mm, in a handle that is a combination of M&F and a Simpson M7. As always, Mr. Vey delivered above and beyond my expectations, delivering not what I asked for but what my heart yearned for. Behold, and allow covetous desires to enter your hearts. I'm not saying I expect you gents to wipe away a few jealous tears, I'm just saying it would be appreciated. :wink2:

Oh my. That there is a beaut. Though I can't say I shed any tears it did bring a momentary narrowing of the eyes as they squinted to look closely at the picture and then a widening as I appreciated the design and craftmanship and then lastly a resigned look saying "I've exhausted my budget, I can't buy anything else...sigh". Very nice brush, congratulations. Enjoy!

That is a wild awesome brush! Rudy is amazing! Those stripes make me wonder... What would a barrber pole design look like???

I must admit, that brush is growing on me. When first I saw it, I was a little "YMMV" on the whole "liking the look" thing, but there is no debate about Rudy doing first-class work putting his brushes together. And that colour combo, as I said, continues to grow on me.

Nicely done.

Looks to me like Dymwood.

It is similar to Dymondwood, but it is not. Dymondwood is impregnated with resin, so pretty much impervious to wet environments like the bath room. This is dyed and laminated wood, so the handle needed a finish of several coats of varnish.

So I had the first inaugural shave this morning. I used this brush with cut-up ARKO. I love this brush! The handle is big enough to comfortably hold while whipping up lather, and long enough to not get lather on my hands (don't judge me). Without a shadow of a soupcon of doubt, an outstanding performer!

That's a stunner.
(And I've thought of, and rejected, about five comments about the monkey...)

Yes, a jealous tear has been shed.

That's the "See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil" Monkey...

Now... personally... I'd rotate it so the "See no Evil" side faces the shower
