What's new

narrowing the field

I have narrowed down a few brushes that might work for me. I am upgrading from my first tweezerman brush to something great. I have found the the shavemac 177 silver tip is very highly rated. Right now i face lather but i am getting a dirty bird scuttle soon. I use mama bear soaps right now. Is there a big difference between the shavemac 177 silver and the 177 finest? I couldn't find a review on a shavemac 25? What is the difference between a 177 and a 25? I also read that the savile Row brushes are great too. the SR 3118 silver tip, and the SR 3824. Any thoughts?

The difference between the 177 and 25 is the shape of the handle, the knot should be exactly the same.

+1. I really like the #25 handle. It's really comfortable to use, and I've always thought the #177 looks strange.

Finest is just Shavemac Silvertip with just a little pure hair mixed in. Finest is easily the best bang for the brush, and for the difference in money, I'd always go with Finest. It's very soft.

SR are either made by Thater or Shavemac, so I'd say get whatever costs less and has a 50mm loft.
