My new Grand Shave King

Thanks to luvmysuper, who identified this little razor by my cell phone pick. I managed to swing back a couple days after seeing it and it was still there.

A bit of cleaning, revealed a near mint razor. We'll see how it shaves this week end.

Not sure if anyone has any more info on it, there is a pat # on the underside, but no other make or model, anywhere.

How'd I do for less then the price of a Subway lunch? :w00t:

Razor weighs in at just over 45g, a little less then my Fat Handle Tech

NICE!

I love mine.

When I sold my spare to a member here it felt like having a tooth pulled. I say ditch the stock handle and try it on a heavier one.

For what it is, the simple fact that it looks so awesome just makes it seem to shave better than other razors.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are different models with different numbers of teeth. The teeth are close together compared to other open combs though and the chrome finish makes for smooth shaving!!

@bakerbarber.

thank for the info. i have a couple EJ handles headed my way, so will probably try one of those.

the top cap on mine has 17 teeth
the bottom plate on mine has 12 teeth

luckily, every single one is aligned and not bent.

i was going to wait till the w/end to try, but after some reading and thought, i may put it to use tomorrow...it is a very cool and interesting looking razor to say the least.

seems to be a few threads on another forum which i am not a member, but can read as a guest, that suggest this thing is an ultra smooth shaving razor...fingers crossed they are right.

Nice find! It looks mint and built like a tank. The top plate combs are supposed to retain water and lather, I suppose?

Congratulations!

This is my favorite daily razor. It is wonderfully smooth on my legs. Never, ever have I nicked myself with this razor. Right around the ankles, where the skin is thin, is typically where my nicks happen. Never with this razor.

I definitely recommend putting a heavier handle on this razor. One drop and the neck will break and there is no way to fix it. I have lost two to dropping. So then, I purchased a heavier handle from CooncatBob. The head fits perfect. Very sadly, in a move, I lost the razor. That means, my favorite razor and Bob's handle...can't find it anywhere.

So then I purchased a Tradere razor handle and it too works with the razor head. I really like the Tradere handle. It works well. Looks smart too. I have been fortunate to have had 6 Grand Shave Kings. 2, I've broken, one, I have lost. Currently, I have 3, one that I use with the Tradere handle, another that is on stand by..just in case. And the third one was gifted to me from a friend which has the instructions on how to use. It's a keeper.

This razor may not be aggressive enough for some folks, but it is perfect for my legs, and more. The water gliding over the razor cushions it in a way to not cause my skin any irritation. This company should have figured out to market this razor for women, as I think it is perfect for us, and, they should've made the handle heavier. Oh well.

I'm happy you have one to shave with. Enjoy! :thumbup1:

I have two, one in reserve. The one I use has a handle by our sadly departed friend, Cooncat Bob.

That razor head slides over my face much more smootly than any other razor I have and while seeming extremely mild, gives a very close shave. I can go at my face with no regard to safety never get a cut, nick or any irritation.

I would like to find another or possibly a couple for my son .

sorry, it's clear now.

Very cool razor. When we're they made?

patent info shows 1944. the one i have appears to be unbranded, and have a feeling it's an earlier one. the ones above have the name on the top cap, mine has nothing inscribed anywhere, except the patent #, so i'm must guessing.

It is a very good razor indeed. Mine has 13 tooth on its baseplate that is also magnetized. It really lubricates one you slide the razor on your face.On the other hand I am looking forward to another one too which I don't care teeth numbers.

I picked one up recently, and have thoroughly enjoyed it on a Tradere handle(which has, by default, become the Grand Shave handle:001_smile) I found it fairly angle sensitive- my first run with it produced a passable shave, but nothing spectacular. Looking at the blade exposure, I thought there had to be better available, so I took a bit more time with the next shave. Yep. Fantastic. It feels like using one of those old plastic kids' playset razors.
