My luxury travel kit (version 2)

Ive noticed a few travel threads recently, and while traveling light is always nice, I think good shaves on the road are too.

That in mind, I thought id share my current travel kit, im going away for a few weeks soon, and this is what im working with. Some lessons learnt from last time are that I need shaving sticks and a strop. I keep meaning to get a tony miller, and use the practice strop as a travel one, but im using my old Dovo strop for now. I also want a simpsons major, but my dovo turnback is an awesome brush, and is pretty much indestructable. The leather box underneath all the tabac stuff has watches, cufflinks etc. And yes, a cigar... im on holidays!

That bag is a security risk to any airport!

Nice kit, I haven't thought of bringing my own cigar... A bottle opener is a good idea. Looks like my kit is too small...

well yeah, but I dont trust the airlines not to lose my bags, and I dont wanna lose that sweet butterscotch one.

Bottle opener is a must! It all fits in that bag with a little room to spare, too!

I have the special ring to open my bottles of beer. Useful and quick! However, they don't make them for wine...

true, true.

I had this idea to customise the scales of that wapi to make them work as a bottle opener, but again - no luck for wine.

That straight will turn into a Swiss Army Knife if you have a wine opener attached to it!

Nice kit. I am working on something quite similar right now.

I have the very same Dove brush, it is awesome.

I'll be going away for three weeks in august, my plan is to bring the following products:

Proraso AS
Speick AS
Tabac AS
Unscented Thayer's Witch Hazel

Palmolive shave stick (or maybe Valobra)
Speick shave stick
Tabac shave stick

Dovo silvertip travel brush
I have been toying with the idea of getting a boar brush in a travel tube for variation, any suggestions?

Merkur 933CL travel razor - ok, it's not the best shaver in my den, but it is mild and capable of giving a decent shave
I may also bring a Gillette NEW for the days where i need/fancy a closer shave

thats a cool pack, jeep.

ive youve got the dovo travel, i dont see the need for another. And why bring a razor if you know its not your best, bring a New along too!

I travel approx 17 weeks a year and it is nice to see how others handle their shave needs on the road. Thanks.

Thank you :001_smile

I have strange realationship with the Merkur 933CL, it doesn't give the closest shave - but of alle the razors in my collection it gives me the most comfortable shave, something I value greatly in a travel razor.

I'm packing to fly to one of our CA offices tommorrow and was not thrilled about packing a disposable for the next three days. Will DE's make it through security at airports? I can't imagine a straight would make it. I've had hair goo not make it through because the package was 3.5 ounces instead of the max 3 ounce. I'm not trusting the whims of those TSA types to make a good call with my EJ #86. What travel kits have others put together for airline travel?

de blades (and straights) are not allowed on planes. Either put them in the hold (like im doing), post some de blades ahead, buy some there or you'll have to do without.

Given the EJ is a 3 piece, if its going on the plane in carry on, id have it completely dissasembled, so TSA doesnt somehow think theres a blade in there or something. Theyve been known to confiscate randomly once or twice before, so i'd only take stuff you can stand to lose.

That's what I was afraid of. I'll stash a set of Feathers at each office and I'll be good for future trips. Does anybody use the travel brushes or do you typically just bring along one of your regulars? I'm going to put together a kit for shaving since I'm on the road on week out of most months and I can't bear the thought of using disposables anymore.

i use a travel brush (the one in the pic in the OP folds back into itself). I could use a regular brush, but meh. Turnbacks are fun

+1

Except from it being more practical there is just something really cool about using a travel brush when traveling.

Nice rigs. I have a roll-up from my time in the Marines and an English made leather kit that was my dad's.

Last time I took a travel sized Tech (Cary Grant would be disgusted), a tube of cream, some Old Spice AS, witch hazel, stiyptic pencil, a Tweezerman brush and some blades for my short vacation. No TSA worries since we drove!

This go around I think I'll bring a 40's SS along, although I now have two vintage travel rigs that feature a dinky tech. The new one has a mini brush and shave stick...might have to bring that even though I could really tote the whole den since we will be driving again.

Jakob, you'll be leaving the Old Spice behind?

Sadly yes. My GF is not that fond of the Old Spice (perfume allergy). If I went alone Old Spice would be the only AS I brought
