For anyone who may be interested, here is my current rotation, as well as the two creams I recently discarded. I am extremely pleased with this lineup - they are all outstanding products. I will post them in order of shaving excellence, with more weight given to performance over scent:
1. Cyril Salter Sublime Citrus Shave Cream - not just sublime citrus; sublime shave, period. An impeccable melding of shave and scent.
2. D.R. Harris Arlington Shave Soap - a rock solid shave for a soap (I prefer creams because I have dry skin) but it's the scent that propels this to number 2; it's that good, even when weighting performance over scent. Simply the best smelling shaving product I've ever encountered. Fresh and ferny with some citrus. Incredibly refined.
3. JM Fraser Mosswood Shave Cream - the most unrefined scent (it's not bad, just the worst of this lot) but the best shaving of them all. Simply an incredibly protective, moisturizing shave every time.
4. Taylor Rose Shave Cream - gorgeous scent, gorgeous shave; if you like rose get it.
5. Taylor Jermyn Street Shave Cream - this is marketed for people with sensitive skin and has the same wonderful shave as Taylor Rose but with a strong, modern cologne scent - fantastic if you like prominent scents, which folks with sensitive skin usually have to avoid.
6. Tabac Shave Soap - would move up a few spots if I didn't prefer creams to soaps. Terrific latherer; protective but slightly drying shave.
7. Speick Shaving Cream - refreshing, mildly medicinal smell - great lather and shave - someone had to be last.
The two products I discarded are:
1. Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn Shaving Cream - LOVE this scent; HATE this shave. An irritating, aggravating shave every time. I've actually tried tripling the amount of cream I would ordinarily use to see if I could build some protection and glide, to no avail. Oh yes - and it's pricier than all the aforementioned products. Stick to their razors, which are quality.
2. Musgo Real Shaving Cream - to be clear, this is actually one of the very best products I used. Lovely fresh, original scent and wonderful shave. And great value! But I found it tended to leave a residue on my brush over time, which would cause the hairs to clump up. I gave it to my wife and she loves it.
Hope this was helpful!
