Hi all,

I started dabbling with shaving creams long before joining this site and like many here I'm sure, I done what research I could and bought the best of (what I perceived to be the best from my research) at the time. I then joined here because I wanted to be all in and start using a safety razor. Up to the point of joining this site, I THOUGHT that Truefitt and Hill was one of the best on the market. I do enjoy it, I buy the Aspley one. The smell is so good and does last a little.

I know its a little pricey but I actually don't mind as I get pretty much 2 years out of the tub (I only shave once a week, twice at best)
I would like to know what people would recommend that's even better than this shaving cream. I do like something with a bit of a scent but is also good for the skin too.

Also looking for recommendations for a good moisturiser post shave. I currently use Patricks AM1. Personally, I love it. It keeps my face feeling moisturised for a good 24hrs, however, it is quite expensive and was wondering if there is just as good on the market for cheaper?

As you're a fan of T&H it would be remiss of you not to try some of the offerings from Taylor of Old Bond Street, Geo F Trumper and D R Harris. All three have a great range of scents and their shaving cream performance is much like T&H.

what scents would you recommend from each of the different brands you mention and would you say they are all equal?

I'm rather fond of TOBS Sandalwood (it's pretty potent though) and D R Harris Arlington. However, just because I like them doesn't mean you will.

Your best bet is simply to try a couple who's scent description you like the sound of

I would strongly recommend Castle Forbes in either the Lime or Lavender. The Lime is the stronger scent.

Scents are a very personal preference. I might suggest that you get some sample creams of different scents. Without breaking the bank, you have a better understanding of what is available.
