After many years, I have narrowed down my shaving experience to what approaches perfection. I'll stop experimenting now. Here is my final line-up:

--50-year-old butterscotched Floris brush, once rebdagered (I'm old)
--Martin de Candre Rose soap
--Fatboy
--GSB blades
--4711 cologne as an AS splash (not the aftershave)
--Geo. Trumper Coral Skin Food
A couple of notes: I'm not stingy with the blades. I apply a little dab of the Coral Skin Food over my entire face after the 4711 has evaporated. The Coral Skin Food takes a few minutes to be absorbed, so I give myself the time. To my untrained nose, but after years of experiment, I find that the MdC rose and the Trumper Coral Skin Food share a nearly identical scent profile.
Bliss. No more searching for my perfect shave.
