Most underrated product?

Among products that are cheap, or get generally bad reviews (or aren't discussed at all), which products have, in your hands, performed surprisingly well?

Please DO NOT discuss Williams, Wal-Mart, politics, or religion.

Arko? Fact is it's got praise from B&B anyway. Maybe boar brushes but B&B is good at pointing out these neat little brushes, too. You see I'm clueless.

Erasmic soap. I have used it for years and it is a fantastic soap. It is easily as good as many soaps that cost 4 times as much.

Dorco ST300 blades. They're cheap, locally and readily available where I live, and they've always worked well for me.

Got to give some respect for good ol' Van der Hagen Deluxe shaving soap. Available just about anywhere here in the US for under $2 a puck, and if this were described as a new soap from England we'd all be drooling over it and lining up to spend $10 for a puck. Easy to lather, slick & protective, and it smells like Grey Flannel too!

Two VdH boar brushes, one of which I bought because it came with a bowl and some soap, the other was $7 at a drug store. They aren't my favorites, but they stopped shedding within a reasonable number of shaves, and they work quite well enough after breaking in. From what others have written, the QC may be spotty enough that not everyone will get a good one, but my experience has been fine.

The key word is "underrated".

Then that would be the Masters line of Aftershaves.

When it comes to price and performance Masters Aftershaves are a great bargin.

plain old Witch Hazel, my shaving lifesaver!

I agree. When I'm done with my last pass and I rinse, I apply Witch Hazel while I clean up. Then I apply Osage Rub that is stored in the freezer. Then the A/S of my choosing. What a ritual!

Barbasol Pacific Rush and Barbasol Brisk. I was introduced to these through a B&B forum post. If you like menthol, and with how hot it is right now who doesn't, you will like both of these. And at under $2.00 dollars a bottle they are a steal.

Treet carbon steel blades - either the Blue Specials (aka Black Beauty), or the DuraSharp Classic. No sexy packaging, and extremely polarizing opinions on blade performance. At least they aren't coated with glue, like other blades. There aren't that many carbon steel DE blades hanging around these days.

Except Balaka, and I wouldn't wish that thing on anybody.
