Good Artwork

I think in 2024 every soap maker has to up their game with the quality of the container tub and the cover artwork. If I hold a container in my hand and it feels cheap then that actually affects my shave. I also want to be dazzled by the cover and side artwork! I definately do "judge a book by its cover" also "you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression" To be in this picture I have to like the artwork AND shaving with the soap. I have some boring artwork shaving soaps where I love the shave which are not here and at least three great artwork shaving soaps which I do not like using and they aren't here either! I did something with this picture, lets see if you catch it lol. PLEASE PLEASE let me see pictures of you best looking soaps and also tell me how much you love shaving with them! I wouldn't mind see a top ten (12) list all in one picture!

I find most pictures and artwork on shave soaps to be tacky and make them look cheap or made in someone's basement.

I'll take plain packaging with simple writing any day.

Something also tells me, Marilyn Munroe and JFK's estates are not aware they are marketing shave soaps. Santa probably doesn't care.

Thank you so very much for the quick reply. We can agree to disagree. Now that you mention it I saw Amy Winehouse's face on a soap cover and would love to get one.

I don't agree with either of you! It is called "marketing" "presentation" "packaging" If it wasn't important then we wouldn't have college courses and majors on the subject. If everybody thought like you we wouldn't need the multi billion dollar advertising companies. It is everywhere with every product. It appears also to be very important to the youtube shaving community. There are lots of collectors out there also.

Yes! Yes! But it is a business and I am happy to say most artisan shaving soap markers do a very good job with their product. They are going to need something to make them stand out. How do people buy their products online? They LOOK at the product and read reviews and watch youtube videos. I will say there are three of you and so far only one of me! I hope this changes lol But I am happy and appreciate any and all replies.

I buy refills and as little packaging as I can get by with if available. Even to try the thing. Fancy labels/packaging may and do catch the eye, but I then study the product, not the shiny package that holds it. For most any product.

This level of packaging, storage, and use works just fine for me.

I have to agree with @KW Driver, I really like the simpler labels from Mike's Natural Soaps, Haslinger, maybe even MdC and SV. The most pizzazz I can deal with would be Moon Soaps labels. Anything more than that comes off as tacky to me.
I consider Saponificio Varesino's Tins and Boxes to be very fine art! Exactly what I like to see. I own 11 :) As a group it is in my top three favorite scents. As is Moon Soaps. And I own lots of Mike's for years. He could use a make over lol. Here is Mike's from 10 (I Think) years ago and recently. My MdC, also high art with beautiful presentation, is new in the box as I refuse to waste such an expensive shaving soap on me. I also refuse to buckle under pressure from you uppity connoisseurs! I was born in the South Bronx ghetto and demand better artwork and better containers! Again, thank you all so very much for your replies.

And you’re absolutely entitled to the quality of service you’re willing to pay for.

On one hand, I do agree. When a brand has excellent tubs and labels, it really does come together nicely. Noble otter comes to mind. Great minimal aesthetic with the common otter motif. The ingredient list and main scent notes are visible too which is a huge plus for me. On the other hand, great presentation will never make a poor product good. Ultimately, the soap needs to be the focus for any manufacturer. I also personally do my best to minimise waste and plastic in my life. I wish most artisans sold soap wrapped in paper, packaged in cardboard boxes. It’s a tough line to tread either way.

The concept of "brand management" is broader than just a creative sticker on the cap. Stirling Soap Co. makes an excellent product at a very competitive price with superior customer service. The stickers may not win the accolades of art connoisseurs, but the iconic Stirling Green Tub is instantly recognizable and clearly communicates the product without the label being visible.

Noble Otter's soap containers, have good looking images IMHO. However, i am judging by the four scents our Central Market has in stock.
