Mama Bear Soap & Stinging

I just shaved with Mama Bear soap (Dragon Blood) and it was stinging my face and scalp the whole time (real stinginess like a gazillion needles). Anyone have the same experience with this? I have her Aged Spice which I will try tomorrow. I had the same experience with an original Old Spice soap but not Col Conk or HoneyBee.

It would really suck if my skin is that sensitive.

Wow, must be some skin reaction. I used a ton of her samples and never had a sensation like that. Be careful, test the other soap maybe?

Strong fragrance oils (FO) can cause irritation, even in some that traditionally don't have sensitive skin.

Oh I had a reaction to a MB soap I bought on BST. I forgot which one it is but it's supposedly common with other folks and the scent. I also can't handle Speick well.

I've used MB's unscented soap with no problems, but haven't tried any of her scented soaps. Many scented products cause me similar problems.

I roll the dice on shave products. My face reacts badly to anything with lavender, some EO's and some FO's...no real pattern to said sensitivity. As far as Mama Bear products they have not caused me any irritation.

I get a little burn from Beau Brummel but not anything bad enough for me to not use it. I have not had this reaction from Dragon's Blood.

I have tried three of MB's soaps, and they are all too strongly scented for me. I have tried Alomond, Diogenes Club and Honeysuckle, and I cannot use any of them.

I had to sell all of them.

+1 for me - I love the tallow lather. but I always end up with a stinging, red face.

As much as it kills me, I too cannot use MB's soaps. I think I may be able to get away with Mountain Waters, but Aged Spice and Sandalwood Rose killed me.

Yep, sounds like you're a member of the sensitive skin club. Sucks don't it? Her Bergamot, and Dragon’s Tears burnt me up. The Rosemary Mint, Lavender Patchouli and Awakenings were good though.

yeah i have talked to mama bears about the reaction i got from there winter grapefruit shave stick i got, and see said its a reaction to the fragrance oils

I'm on board with ya'll. It sucks that my face tingles and burns from glycerin, but the good news is triple milled is safe.

I suggest trying some Essential Oil only "flavors." I believe Fragrance Oils are usually more of a culprit when it comes to irritation, than the natural essential oils. That being said, you could try the unscented products first, just to rule out any possible reactions to the base products. Then I'd suggest moving on to soaps just scented with one essential oil and so on. For me, I've only had reactions to a couple EO only products, whereas I've had many reactions to products scented with FO's. Keep a list of what irritates you, that way you can start to identify certain scents/FO's/EO's that are irritants. Also, you might seek out some products that are more lightly scented. Strong scents=more fragrance=more chance of irritation. Good Luck!
