RIP Sue Clark (Mama Bear)

captp

Pretty Pink Fairy Princess.
It is with a heavy heart that I post this.
Sue Clark, the original Mama Bear of Mama Bear's Soaps, passed last week.
Sue was one of the earliest Vendors here on B&B.
I have used her cocoa butter bath soaps exclusively for over 10 years, and her shave soaps almost excl for even longer.
She sold her business to one of her employees about 5 years. I have remained a loyal customer.
RIP to a great lady.

Thank you for letting us know the sad news.

Along with St Charles Sue and Honeybee Sue, she was one of the "Sue-fecta" of soapmakers that it was a rite of passage for new members to try out as they began their wetshaving journey way back when. Mama Bear was also a regular participant and member of our community here as well as just being a maker of soaps.

I still have several tubs of soaps I bought from her back in the day, and will be thinking of her when I use some for my next shave.

It’s beyond sad that we have now lost all of our Sues.

Somehow, the passing of Honeybee Sue had not hit my radar. Very sad now that I finally catch up to the news.

All three of the Sues made good soaps that "scratched an itch" in the early years of the wetshaving explosion. And really, back then there weren't that many other artisan soapmakers. These three ladies, and a few other soapmakers, were the trailblazers for all those who came after.

I still have many soaps from SCS and Mama Bear that are at least a decade old. Every time I use one I think of the wonderful Sue that made it.

RIP, Mama Bear.

So sad to hear this. Sue was a down to earth person who helped out the wet shaving community quite a bit back in the day. I still have a few of her soaps in my stash as well as her pottery soap dish.

When I would order, it was often a few pounds at a time and I counted myself quite fortunate that she was still willing to ship to me (Canada) after ceasing her international shipping (due to repeated fraudulent claims of non-delivery).

Here's an order from 2016 showcasing many of her great scents.

I truly hoped you enjoyed your retirement years in Belize, Sue, and thanks for everything.

This made me sad.. I had only talked with "the Sue's" a few times and they all were very nice.. I hope to one day be able to try something from all of them as I have not tried their creations before.. I think they were all winding down their soap making when I first got into this hobby/ lifestyle of ours.... Although I only had limited conversations with each of them Theyy will be missed and I want to send out my Condolences And thoughts and prayers to each of their families and friends....
