i think i've seen a thread regarding this somewhere, but who has done this / whats your recipe -

i was thinking if doing it with Williams and adding some AV blue to it - gotta be cheaper than the OS shower gel, no?

just wondering

I tried to make liquid laundry detergent by shredding fels-naptha bar laundry soap, then dissolving in hot water. I thought I did well till I checked it the next day to find after cooling it solidified into a solid tube of soap stuck in a bottle Guess I got the ratio of water to soap wrong. :blushing:

Things You'll Need:

* Ivory soap bars
* ½ gallon distilled water
* 2 tbsp. glycerin
* 20 to 30 drops of your favorite essential oils (optional)
* Vegetable grater
* Heat-resistant glass jars with tight-fitting lids

1.
Step 1

Grate two or three bars of Ivory soap. You'll need two cups to make your shower gel.
2.
Step 2

Pour ½ gallon of distilled water into a heavy saucepan. Add the glycerin to the water and set the heat to medium-low.
3.
Step 3

Stir in the grated soap. Continue heating the mixture, stirring it occasionally to completely dissolve the soap. If the liquid seems too thick for your taste, simply add some more distilled water until you're satisfied with the consistency.
4.
Step 4

Add essential oils if you wish, and blend the shower gel mixture very well.
5.
Step 5

Pour the shower gel immediately into glass jars and cap them tightly. Store them in a cool location.

Just FYI most body washes/liquid soaps are actually detergents rather than soap... I doubt adding a ton of glycerin and water to a bar soap can create a half decent liquid.
