looking for a soft shell rifle case for my lever gun

who makes a good quality unscoped rifle case for lever guns? I'd like something in the 42" range. I checked out the rifle cases at Slander Mtn the other day and they pretty much only had 52" cases. they did have a youth rimfire case that measured 38" but that seems too small for my Winchester 9422, and i'm certain that's the outside measurement, not inside space.

Check with member Eaglestroker, I know in addition to holsters and belts he makes rifle slings and some other accoutrements. Not sure if he does scabbards or not, but it's free to ask. If he doesn't, let me know and I'll ask around on my leatherworking forum to see if I can find someone.

We use Boyt cases on all our field guns (my Brother and I).
They are durable. We've had ours for a very long time and they aren't treated very nicely.
A soft case is nice for field use.

I have a Boyt for my Beretta over/under. Everything else is in cheap bags from Wal-Mart. You're only using it to transport to your shooting location, so it's not an item that you need to really research and shop around for, IMO.

I'm using a Bob Allen cheapo softy ($20) for my Mossberg but I haven't used it often since the gun stays propped in the corner near my bed 80% of the time. I got the case and most of my stuff, including ammo from Galamiel Shooting Supply they have fairly decent pricing, they're only a couple hundred miles from where I live, so shipping is quick and it's free on purchases over $30..which saves a ton of cash on heavy boxes of ammo.

Well, if you want top end.....I have a pair of Pelican cases I use to transport many of my different firearms. Not cheap but neither are any of the weapons I carry in them. I have two Boyt cases; both work very well. My Bagmaster cases are made (in St. Louis, MO..USA) and are as well made as the Boyts . I guess it will come down to how much you value the firearm. My Browning Citori is worth a lot to me. The couple hundred I spent on the Pelican case is worth every dime. Same holds true for my Remington 700 .30-06. She is worthy of the best case available when in the travel mode. For that I have a Pelican. Not much better out there.

For a soft case, Boyt is the one .. some of Cabela's are knockoffs of the Boyt, but the latter is one tough case. I've got one that dates back to the 60's I think, housing a Marlin Lever

thanks for the recommendations everyone.

have any of you ever ordered from uniquecases.com? I found the site to be a bit suspicious. they don't list any specifics about the company, let alone shipping info/costs.

I'm not sure how "good" you want to get, if if there is a style or heirloom component, but personally I buy cheap base on the experience of ruining good stuff through hard use.
Here is what I got, probably at Wally world or something, for $15 bucks. It does not seem to want to wear out. Perfect size, too. Called Gunmate, and made in Vietnam.
