Liquid Soap?

Creams and hard soaps are all fine and dandy but how about a liquid soap of the dish detergent sort of consistency that you just squeeze a few drops onto the brush or into the bowl and whip up? Is there not anything like this anyone has heard of? Maybe even something that is clear sort of like Dr Bronners liquid soap but made specifically for shaving? Would be nice in a standard soap pump where for example a single teaspoon sized metered pump of soap is enough and you buy it by the liter.

Try out the Kiss My Face shave cream in the 11oz pump bottle. All in all, it works pretty well.

BTW, check out the shave cream forum --there's a thread about KMF.

The question that pops up in my head: why?

It's probably going to be less economical than hard soaps or even creams.

Seems it would be more convenient and less messy or error prone in getting the amount right. Also seems it would mix very well and lather very quickly.

Finding the right amount to use wouldn't be any quicker than finding the right amount of any soap or cream for the first time, everybody uses a different amount. It would be pretty fast though, you have a point there, but does anybody really wet shave to save time?

It would also look nice in my stainless soap pump on the counter next to my other stainless soap pump :wink2:

Don't know enough on the topic but I'd guess that the ingredients used for liquid soaps tend to not be ideal (consider the issues many have with gels). I know it's an entirely different matter but I'm finding that using liquid laundry detergents are a bit of a compromise for our hard water since the softeners in the liquids aren't as effective as those in the powders.

I imagine that a liquid soap would be full of chemicals?

This ^^. They would have to add potentially harmful chemicals in order to make the soap stay in a liquid state. It seems like a compramize that most traditional wet shavers aren't willing to accommodate. I also agree that you would get significantly less shaves per ounce of product than compared to hard soaps - so the added water would bump the price up a lot.

Really?? Dr Bronners is supposedly pretty natural, only a few ingredients... super saponified oils i think. At least that is the claim.

@elverdiblanco - Not sure the cost of the water it would take to make it happen would really be a significant factor in the cost of the product.

In any case looks like I will be a Lucky Tiger soon :001_tongu Will give the KissMyFace a try too.

Taking the orthogonal approach, I wonder if you could turn an existing liquid soap into a 'shave soap' by adding something to it? Maybe more oils, some glycerine, whatever makes a shave soap different from a regular one?

For some reason this makes me think of microwaving some VDH Luxury and spooning a little into a cheap brush. Maybe I should get some sleep before I come up with any more ideas.

I've seen old ads for Williams advertising their range of products. They used to produce shaving soap, cream, powder, and liquid. I wonder what it was like to use!
