Levaquin 500mg

After taking amoxicillin for ten days prescribed by my GP, then 10 days of Augmentin from my ENT I still showed signs of a sinus infection. My ENT now gave me 10 days of Levaquin. I down to three more pills and this stuff really knocks you out. I am exhausted. Anyone have success with Levaquin? My sinuses are getting better but can’t wait to finish the 10 days. I return to the Dr. on Friday and am hoping this is it.

That seems like a lot of antibiotics. I have taken levaquin and had no problems with it. Last year, I battled c-diff (intestinal ailment) for over a month. Living through that has caused me to view antibiotics in a whole new way.

Leviquin is really very similar to Cipro which is much cheaper. Both are commonly used for Urinary Tract Infections. They are both very effective. I have taken leviquin and never had fatigue issues however after taking it a few times I have developed issues with it and can't take it anymore.

Levaquin is a quinolone antibiotic, and is those are typically "harsher" on more people.
I would mention the extreme tiredness to you doctor asap:

From the Levaquin website:

Hepatotoxicity (liver damage) has been reported in patients receiving LEVAQUIN®. Call your doctor right away if you have unexplained symptoms such as: nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, fever, weakness, abdominal pain or tenderness, itching, unusual or unexplained tiredness, loss of appetite, light colored bowel movements, dark colored urine or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.

I've always been given Zithromax for sinus infections. Always worked for me.

Levaquin knocked me on my butt.

In some ways tiredness is a GOOD side effect of Levaquin. One of the other ones is tightness of tendons and ligaments--it is really easy to actually SNAP tendons if you try to stretch or work too hard while on it.

Broad spectrum antibiotics commonly cause fatigue and GI issues. In your regards after all those antibiotics I would wonder if you have anatomical issues. Do you have chronic sinus issues? A Nety Pot will help also.

This is the first time I had an infection. I have had minor symptoms but just took some over the counter meds. Properly made it worse. I have been using a neti pot for a few weeks now and feeling better but still not 100%

I'm allergic to it... I got a nice rash the last time I took it. No more levaquin for me.

Just discovered the Neti Pot as mentioned, definitely helps with allergy symptoms and most definitely gross' the wife out. The look on her face when she saw me do it for the first time was priceless to say the least.
