Lavender oil

I was wondering if anyone here has used Lavender oil to scent shaving cream? The reason I ask is I received a tub of TOBS Lavender shave cream (discussed in another thread) that seems to have missed out on getting it's scent. It only smells like soap, but no Lavendar, but since it works great as a shave cream I figured I would keep it. I was contemplating picking up some Lavender oil to add to the cream and mix it in, to make it more inline with what I would expect when I use the stuff. Let me know your experience with this kind of thing.

Interesting...I am almost to the bottom of a full tub of TOBS lavender-love the fragrance and the consistency of the cream. The fragrance is pretty strong in my tub, but different manufacturers have different takes on a particular fragrance. For instance, I also have a tub of TH lavender and the fragrance is also very good but very different fron the TOBS lavender. I don't think there would be any problem in adding some essential oil to the TOBS if you wanted to. Let me know if you might want to trade or sell the TOBS. Good luck!

I've used various essential oils in shaving creams, either to beef up an already scented cream, or to create a bespoke frangrance in an unscented cream. Personally, I never like the results I got, I guess because I'm not all that expert at scent blending. Adding EO didn't seem to have any adverse effects on the performance of the cream, though. I would think adding a simple lavender oil to your Taylor lavender cream should work just fine.

I frequently add EOs to creams. The best one is geranium to AOS unscented. Lavender EO works fine - about 12 drops will do a tub, so modify accordingly. Stir well and adjust concentration. Sometimes there is a small change in fluidity but I have never had a problem.

Can you stir it up to see if that makes a difference.

If you add lavender EO or FO make sure you don't add to much. Adding too much will kill your lather.

Lavender EO is irritating so only use a little. Even TOBS has artificial lavender. Classic Shaving Lavender and Mama Bear LAvender have burned my skin.

Yes, I'ved stirred it using a long slender tapered ink pallete knife and nothing changed. I looked up Essential Lavender Oils and found a website Nowfoods.com and they recommend 1 part to Lavender oil to 100 parts what you are trying to infuse. Per their website they sell it at Fruitiful Yield, a local health food store, so tomorrow I will acquire.

I thought about it, spending $6 on Lavender oil for a $13 tub of shaving cream, but I figured two things, I'm not going to throw out the cream since it works for its intended purpose and I would be doing myself an injustice to not have that wonderful Lavender aroma while I am shaving.

Well, it's not like you'll use all the EO up for one tub. You should be fine, but beware that many people have a sensitivity to pure Lavender EO. I'd start small, with a few drops, mix it up, and shave with it. Then add more if necessary.

I sometimes use Em's Place Unscented creams and mix in EOs. I just add about one or two drops of Lavender and a good drop of cream. I get a nice fresh scent and no problems with lathering.
