What's new

Tabac, wow!

Thanks. I should have said that I have the 2021 reformulation, but you answered my question just fine. Tabac has always left me feeling dry and almost burned afterward. I think I might be sensitive to one of the ingredients. I'm really enjoying the Windsor. It has a pleasant fragrance, and the shave is luxury.

I only have the 2022 non-tallow formula (believe it has been changed again since then) and find that the post shave feel is fine and at least as good as some of the other soaps we both use like Razorock XXX or D.R. Harris (Windsor in my case). Hope that helps. If someone has used both the pre-2022 tallow formula and latest 2025 non-tallow formula please pipe in.
I have used Tallow, 2021 Veg, and 2024 Veg. I find the post shave feel very good to excellent with all three. As for dryness, if it were to bother me I would finish the shave with some sort of balm.

YMMV, the Tabac pucks I purchased in 2022 would be based on the same 2021 formulation as your puck.

Glad to hear that Windsor works well for you as I enjoy my puck and its excellent scent. If you like Windsor consider trying Cyril R. Salter. It uses the D.R. Harris tallow first soap base (Windsor is slightly different with tallow second on my puck from 2022) and has a nice lavender scent for half the price. If you have other D.R. Harris soaps that are tallow first they likely provide a similar quality of lather outside of the unique scents.

Note that since my first post on Windsor a couple of years ago I've figured out how to get lather from it that is just as good as Cyril R. Salter (CRS) with a bit of extra effort. CRS is one of my favorite shaving soaps. Link to detailed thread on these below:

Wow. Thanks for the link. My recently-purchased Windsor puck has sodium tallowate as the first ingredient, so I suppose it's close to the CRS lavender you put through its paces.

I'm not going to mess with Tabac anymore. It was my first shave soap, and I still haven't finished it. Once you go Tabac, you never go back. 😅
