Yes. I got in touch with SS. This is a rebranded Dan's stone. I bought one. It's dead flat.

And Jim, it looks like the translucent ark is more fine than the black ark. Is that your understanding?

No. That's not what Dan't or SS say. It is what Norton seems to be saying about their translucent. Dan's says the hard black is the finest. It's a pain to read about but worth doing.

I don't know the bottom line. I'm a newbie to these stones and am going by what I've read and nothing else.
