What's new

Just tried a sample of Castle Forbes

And it is great! I'm predominately a soap guy, but the CF was just wonderful... I now know what the hype is with CF... I've been told that the Penhaligon's cream was as good or better, and I would like to know for sure. There's certainly room in my rotation for the CF! Excellent stuff! :thumbup1:

Paul, where does one get a sample of CF? Sorry in advance if this is easy to find. I'm about 80% soaps, but have really enjoyed some of the better creams.

Mine was from Colonial Drug in Boston. They don't have a website, but they're very helpful by phone call... I'm sure some of the other vendors will offer them too, but I don't know.

EDIT: It came with a purchase... I don't know if they'll just give out samples.

I think that CF is better than Pen's creams by a long shot. CF is very slick and cushioning at the same time....not to mention that the scent is unbelievable. CF Lime gets most of the attention, but I just bought the Lavender cream, and I prefer it over their Lime. Any Cedarwood Sandalwood users? The stuff is pricey, but a little goes a long way. You can pick up the travel sized tub for about $15 (which I did). I also heartily recommend their ASB.

I posted another thread asking what creams are the most soap-like, because I think CF makes creams that are more like soaps. I put the Trumpers creams and Musgo Real in that same category, but not the same class.

I don't really care for the Musgo Real cream... The sample I got was the Cedarwood Sandalwood. The scent kind of reminded me of a weird nutty, chocolatey Christmas time treat... I'd be much more interested in their lavender and limes to purchase, but the performance was noteworthy.

I think DR Harris performs better than CF; I love the Marlborough. The scent is similar to cedarwood sandalwood, but not as strong.

CF Lime is probably my favorite cream. I say "probably" because GFT rose is a very close second. Have not tried the lavender or cedar/sandalwood yet but look forward to trying them.

Well, that's not quite true. They do have a website. It just doesn't sure much of a purpose other providing contact information. Anyway, Bill, give them a call or shoot them an email. They're more than willing to send you some Castle Forbes samples.

I didn't even know they had that... I found them randomly, cool

Paul, I am happy to hear that you liked the CF cream. My learning curve with it was quite steep, but I perservered and finally got the knack of building a lather that is as good on the third pass as it is on the first. It really is remarkable stuff, the lavender scent is otherworldly.

I was afraid of that... I may have to try to get my hands on some of that stuff...
