What's new

Just Bought a New Hart Razor Today!

Well gentlemen, I decided to give myself an early Father's Day/Birthday present this year and my wife and I drove over to Palm Springs to visit "The Men's Room" by Classic Shaving. Being Mother's Day it was a nice day for a drive and when we showed up, Miguel was behind the counter and eager to help us. I looked at a number of Thiers Issards but just couldn't get over the heft and feel of the new Hart razors. The one I purchased was constructed by artisan technician BG with black scales and is absolutely beautiful in every respect. I will give it a whirl tomorrow morning and will be posting a complete review of this razor sometime next weekend after I have used it for a week. It just gives me so much pride to see a small group of American entrepreneurs bringing the lost art of straight razor craftsmanship back to the United States.

Good stuff! I love the look and vibe of the Hart razors. And I also love supporting small companies based in Canada and/or USA.

It's depressing going to most stores these days, seeing that virtually everything is made in China. Nice to know that we're still making something here!

I think you'll love the Hart razor. I keep coming back to mine and my other razors (Filarmonica, Puma, Helje, etc) are getting lonely!

Hello Gentlemen,

I just finished my first week with my new Hart Razor (BG). Words can not begin to describe how happy I am with my purchase and what a wonderful week of comfortable shaves I have experienced but I will try. Prior to my first shave I carefully stropped it about (25) laps on the linen and another (50) laps on my Latigo strop. From my first shave with the Hart, the razor felt so comfortable, balanced, and natural in my hand that my confidence with this new razor was there from the first time the blade touched my skin. I must impress on you that the Hart has a heavier feel than most razors, but it works to your advantage. The combination of weight and balance allows the razor to effortlessly glide across your face while literally "wiping' away your whiskers. Compared to my old 5/8 Dovo, this razor performed as though in a class all of its own. I have tried many other models in the past to include: Thiers Issard, Boker, Wade and Butcher, and the Dbl Duk Wonder Edge thanks to a friend who is an avid collector, but the Hart in my humble opinion out performed them all for ease of use, comfort, and overall shaving performance. I am so impressed with this razor that I am considering purchasing one every couple of months to complete a 7 Day set.

Anyone who is considering purchasing a Hart razor I enthusiastically recommend it. The craftsmanship and performance speak for themselves, but the additional pride I feel knowing I own an American razor make it all worth while. I am so happy to see small businesses like Hart taking up the mantle and producing such a fine American made product. I salute the Hart Company and especially Artisan Technician (BG) for a job well done.

I have included a few photos as requested by JPM. Please excuse the quality; I am not a very sophisticated photographer but I have done my best to showcase the quality of workmanship and pride I feel in my new razor.

Semper Fidelis,

Gregg Raineri

Very nice!

I love the understated design of these razors. I already own far too many straights, but I'll admit it's tempting.

I think these are outstanding razors. I think the black scales are a little nicer but that doesn't effect the shave. I'd post pics but mine look much like the one Gregg posted except one is white. And the live at my house ...

I was never a fan of the Hart razor until seeing these pictures. You make it look better that the ads I have seen for them

Man, I'm really torn on it. I have Fathers Day coming up and it's either going to be a C135 TI or a Hart.:bored:

Tough choice. I have TI Special Coiffeur with a C135 blade but it's not really comparable to a Hart. TI is making some nice stuff. Maybe one of each? :biggrin1:

Well like I said, I have tried a few TI's and like you was set on buying one until I discovered the Hart. I just can't say enough about this razor and what BBS shaves I am getting with it. Almost two weeks now and I know I made the right choice for me by going with the Hart.

Do you rent out your Hart:blushing:

Temecula? I lived in Red Hawk :)

Congrats on the Hart! I shave with mine on the weekends, it was my first Straight razor purchase, and I've been extremely happy with it.
