What's new

It was the best of times it was the worst of times

I tried my second sample of D.R. Harris soap (Marlborough). It lathered great, wonderfully slick all around good performance. Unfortunetely had a bad reaction to it (I think it has sandalwood in it..). I looked like a well shaven tomato. I had problems with Arlington as well (believe it was the orange/citrus). Really wanting to like these soaps, but they just don't like me.

Thank Heavens for unscented Artisan Soaps.

Sorry to hear that, mate. It really sucks...

I love Arlington; first shaves I noticed a bit of itchiness around my lips (citrus...), but nothing important in the end. A couple of weeks ago it was Arlington week (soap, splash, cologne: SWMBO loves it...) and everything was VERY nice.

Perhaps you're going through a period of skin irritation? Put it away, heal your skin and try it in some time.

I always feel bad reading about people's reactions to different products. I haven't had a negative reaction to any soap out of the dozens I have tried (*knocks on wood*). I can only imagine how frustrating it would be, especially with products that otherwise perform so well.

I feel your pain

Have used a couple of creams that I really liked the performance of. But then a little later my face breaks out, as if I wiped my face with poisen ivy.:scared:

Wish I was blessed with facial skin that never react's to any shaving soap/cream:frown2:

Perhaps you should try D.R. Harris almond shaving soap. Almost no scent, so I would guess less likely to cause a reaction. That is really too bad about the Marlborough. I have only tried a sample of that one, and confess that my sample was almost as odorless as the almond! But it could be the sandalwood in it. I know that my TOBS sandalwood soap gives me a tingle even though I doubt it has much sandalwood in it.
