Is the general consensus that the Sensor Excel is the best cartridge system?

I can't speak for most people, but the Sensor is what I use for my ears :tongue_sm and is my cart of choice if I had to revert.

When the replacement carts were manufactured to a higher standard, I would say yes.... these days the replacements are lower quality, IMHO.

I think consensus is that Gillette made great cartridge razors until they starting adding blades above two. So the Trac II, Atra, and Sensor are all excellent.

I personally prefer the Trac II the most of the three, and typically shave with one 1-2 times a week (the other shaves being a DE, an Injector, or a Gem Single Edge).

I began shaving with a Sensor. I stumbled upon this forum when I was looking for a new sensor handle to replace my Mach 3....then I had a friend re-introduce this forum to me when he was trying to convert me to DE shaving

For me, Fusion is still the best.

However, the other day I tried an old Schick Ultra 11 cartridge - double blade with a fixed head (non swivelling). I'd never liked it much, but with my better technique from DE shaving, I was quite surprised at how close a shave it gave without any nicks, even though it felt rougher in use than a DE blade.

The Trac II is the razor I switched to, from a DE, in college and I still think it was the best of the cartridge razors.

I'd have to say the sensor was the first razor th give me a comfortable shave and reduce my razor bump issues, I recently purchased an Atra and Trac 2 handles and blades but find that I like the Sensor better, although the blades are nowhere as good as I remember. The Fusion is a good razor but solo expensive that I used to push the blades past the discard and resort to stropping on jeans. Probably will buy a Proglide when I get a discount.

Having used several different cartridge systems over the years, I like the Fusion ProGlide best, especially the vibrating one. (I have both varieties.) With a new cartridge, I can get a fabulous shave. I prefer using my DE razor (because the shaving experience is more fun), but the Fusion PG is alright by me.

If traveling with carry-on I pack a Schick vibrating thingy (forget the name).

Coupled with some good lather and a travel brush I get a DFS with some bump "blow-back" if I try to go too close on the neck.
