I acquired a new-in-box Sensor Platinum Edition a few days ago and then ordered 100 cartridges on eBay. But they are cartridges supposedly made by Schick, according to the seller, made to fit the Sensor handle. At 24 cents a cartridge it was the best deal I could find.
Tell me you have a shaving obsession without saying you have a shaving obsession. I delayed my shower and shave until after the 2:30 mail delivery so I could use these Schick blades. Tell me you've never done that.
That was today's lineup. The Sensor was my razor from my 1991 journey to Fort Sill for Basic and AIT and for probably 12 years onward. A time when I had no concept of "passes" or the techniques you develop with DE shaving.
The absence of any tugging tells me the blades are sharp enough. Two passes in and I was concerned there was still a lot stubble on my neck, but the third pass finally dealt with it. The comfort strip was pretty ragged at the end.
Call it a CCS. I don't think a BBS is possible for me with this gear. Or it would require an impractical outlay of time and pretty raw skin to get there.
And it had the old shortcomings of cartridges that I remember. I had to tap the handle on the sink edge a few times to dislodge hair trapped under the blades. I had to rinse it off more frequently than with a DE. So much so that I found myself just leaving the water running while I shaved, which is something I haven't done since Iraq.
It's good to have at least one "modern" in my stable, and one that recalls a specific time in my life when a single north-south pass was all I had time for, and really all I needed.
