Is my Castle Forbes bad?

Hi all,
After reading tons of reviews about Castle Forbes Lime, I found a smaller TSA size tub of it for sale and ordered it. Once I got it, I couldn't wait to try it out so that evening I cracked it open and after all my prep and eveything tried to load my brush with it and it was like it was dry. I ended up grabing my pocket knife and scraping a little bit out and tossing it into my lather bowl. Once it was in there, I did get it to lather but it seemed to need quite a bit more water than any of my other creams or soaps for that matter. It appears to have the consistency of glue, is that normal?

This is a traditional cream that is really a soft soap. Its not a cosmeticised slop that they are passing as cream now.

Two things-
Dig some out and put it in your bowl with a teaspoon of water before you prep.

Use a dryish brush and go to the container like a soap puck.

If its really dry add a little water to the contain as you put it away.

Enjoy

I guess thats three things.

Castle Forbes is rather thick. Its not really like a true cream, but more like a soft soap. I know that some of the oils create like a "snot" on my soap, but all is good.

I'm going to try the teaspoon trick tonight, I would use it as a soap puck but the container it comes in is really small, I got the 1.7oz container. I was rather impressed at the amout of lather it created though.

Shawn,

Yes, it is.
Castle Forbes creams are very, very, very dense.
They are so dense and concentrated, that they appear more similar to "soft" shaving soaps rather than shaving creams.
And do not worry, it takes a little bit of time and experience to lather up properly CF shaving creams.
But do not give up.
Once you get the right technique, or the method that works better for you, you'll be rewarded with the very best creamy lather in the World.
Truly.
