Is It Just Me?

Lately, for whatever reason, I have been returning to the classic scents of shaving. Or at least the ones that were around when I started on this journey. I ordered a puck of Ogallala Bay Rum and 5 pucks of Cyril R. Salter (lavender). I reach for MDC Rose, AOS Lime, MWF (tallow only), and Tabac (tallow only).

I truly enjoy the scents from Stirling, B&M, Ariana & Evans, and others of the same ilk. However, I have begun yearning for simpler scents with no concern for top, middle, or base notes. I hope I'm not getting old while getting older, there's a difference.:wheelchair:

I also have enjoyed Stiriling and A&E, etc, but as a diehard 3017er I find I get noseblind to the stronger complicated scents. After a few weeks I really don't think about or notice them anymore.

I'm finding I lean towards the classics myself. Bayrum, citrus, rose, lavender are all to my liking. Oddly, I catch myself taking deep whiffs of mildly scented soaps and appreciate them during a shave where the in-your-face blast of smells from many aritisan soaps seem to cause me to ignore them over time.

Preferences change over time. After a period of enjoying the classics you may want to try a more adventurous scent.

Making fragrances is no easy task and IMO most Artisan’s fail miserably in that regard. The classic scents like bay rum, sandalwood, lavendar are very natural and non-offensive.

No doubt! Two of my favorite scents are Strawberry Lemonade by Stirling and the recently discovered (by me) Prairie Blossoms by MacDuff's. I could shave w/ either every day but I would still make time for the classic scents I know and love.

Truefitt's 1805 & DRH Marborough will forever be linked to London for me, as I made their discovery while in the motherland.
MdC Agrumes and Rose, Tabac, MWF, and even Arko will always be in rotation in one way or another - into the next lifetime

The creatively scented soaps are like radio "one-hit-wonders" - they leave a big immediate impression, and are fun and exciting, but I find the allure wears-off after several uses...

I've also pared-back to mostly the classics: MdC, DR Harris, SV, MWF, etc...
These all have "staying power"...
