Injector fault?

Hi Chaps,

Have just purchased a 1937 Schick Injector razor - I believe the E3 complete with original box.

A real collectors piece I feel yet I was hoping to give it a try. As this is my first injector, I have no way of telling whether it can still be used.

Q1) Where the metal head meets the handle, the head seems to be able to pivot left and right by a few degrees. Has its attachment to the handle become lose or is this normal?

Q2) There is a small amount of movement of the lower guard...(if that makes sense?) It wiggles somewhat...I can imagine this could be problematic when shaving as the blade exposure could vary somewhat. Will it firm up once a blade is loaded?

Many thanks in advance!

Nick

That is not normal. It's loose.

I've seen a couple where it did firm up with the blade loaded, and shaved with them with no problem. If it's loose after you load the blade, then don't risk it. And I'd be leery of it anyway if the entire head is loose.
