What's new

I bought Williams Soap

With 2 TOBS Creams as I Have been Wanting to try all three. (Drugstore.com's Sale on TOBS)
When I opened the Williams, I was Surprised To See The Soap wasn't wrapped in Anything.
It was Just in The Williams Box, No wrapper on it.
Could that be a Fluke? or is that how they do it?

Just a tip from my experience with Williams. Let the puck soak in Hot Water for 3 to 5 minutes before you use it. Some one on this forum made a great statement that is still one of my favorites "Williams Shave Soap takes a stupid amount of Water"! I found this to be true and once you get through that outer layer of the Williams soap at least for me then the greatness of Williams shines.

hmm...that outer layer must be an inch thick.

Do the random capital letters signify something?

Unrelated to that: I will try out Williams again soon. I gave my first puck away when I decided I couldn't get lather out of it at all. Maybe soaking it in distilled water will do the trick.

Don't toss that Williams away if it doesn't work for shaving. Surprisingly it makes a great hand soap that doesn't make your hands crack in the winter air. I think if they repositioned Williams as a hand soap and advertised it to women it would sell like hotcakes at McDonald's at 8am.

Speaking of Williams, I'm just saying -- for a dollar or two, there have been more than two or three times that I've stopped by CVS and picked up a puck or two. My motivation every time is that I think I can stumble onto the key that unlocks some lather in that soap. I find the scent just fine. I won't go into the first few times, they all ended up with me being frustrated once again. Well, yesterday I had occasion to be in the drug store, and they happened to have it on the shelf. Long story getting shorter - I've tried it with 4 different brushes, and the one that worked the best is the Italian Barber Semogue Limited Edition commissioned by Joseph. I used distilled water on the puck as it sat in the bowl, lathered on it for a full two minutes, then worked it in a bowl for another minute or two. That was a good lather. That was the first brush I tried, the next three, two boars and one badger, didn't like the lather much, so I ended up trying it again with the Italian Barber Semogue, and again, got the best lather to date with any of my long trashed Williams pucks. I'm going to actually shave with it tomorrow morning. All of these latherings were just that, tests. By the way, these 5 two minute latherings have caused yesterday's new puck to be about a quarter of an inch thinner than new. Its a hard soap, but when I hit it with a vengeance, it really does give it up to the brush. Anyway, I'll come back again tomorrow and post about the shave. I'm not under any illusion that I'm going to be anything but frustrated, once again. But these darn whiskers keep on growin' and I just keep cuttin' 'em off. Then I'll go back to my excellent Valobra hard soap.
