How do you store your SE & DE razors?

Aside from appearance, is there any reason why you should razors vertically? Currently all mine are in the medicine cabinet laying down...
Do you use a stand, rack, mount, jar, lay them down, throw them in a drawer?

Pics if you are feeling adventurous...

Mine are in the bookshelf behind glass door on the level surface resting on their guard side. Except the one I am currently shaving with that is in my bathroom.

Razor&brush stands that can be knocked down by the towel etc. are just plain stupid in my opinion.

I just lay them down either in a cabinet or on the counter, depending which one is "in use".

For my straights I have a mug I put them in. Here is a picture. It is an Alice in Wonderland theme.

But it is a little more complicated. I need to keep track of which ones are stropped and which are not. If I were to simply strop before each use it would be easy to keep track but I like to keep the ones not currently in use stropped and ready to go and if I find a spare moment during the day I will strop whatever razors need it.

So I need to keep two groups of razors -- stropped and not stropped. Right now have only the one mug so unstropped razors must lie flat somewhere. I am going to get another mug but just haven't run across one I like yet. I was spoiled by the mug in this picture and nothing I see looks as nice so I haven't bough anything yet:

For mine that aren't in the present rotation & don't have their own case, I found fishing lure boxes for a couple bucks. The blue dividers are moveable and have some sort of anti-rust properties. Same boxes work for pocket knives, they can be had in various sizes & configurations. These are great for all sorts of stuff

Robert Paulsen, that mug is bad ***!

Some great ideas here so far! I too kind of find the whole razor stand idea rather silly.
Tackle box, thought of it but I never seen one with movable blue sections! I love that, I have to look for one now. I live in the desert, so I'm not exactly well versed in all things that involve bodies of water/streams/rivers.

So what do I do? I just throw them in sandwich sized ziplock bags and keep them in a few small boxes. As I gather more razors, I don't want to have to many of them crowded in one spot risking damage or scratches. Thanks for the idea guys.

I agree with the stands. Not a huge fan. I was however maybe thinking a rack of some sort that you screw to a wall or cabinet. A friend of mine has a CNC machine and big Laser engraver (as well as many other machines). He machines tools / parts for medical and military industries.

My thought was get a long narrow piece of titanium or other rare material. Then have him route holes for each shaver. Then engrave the name / date of that specific razor into the alloy. This obviously would be more fitting for razors you know you want to keep. Then have a bracket that the bar slips into. Maybe make two one for personal collection razors and one for ones you might trade of sell (this one wouldn't be engraved).

I know this over kill, but hey - who cares 8) - If I can get Adobe Illustrator to stop crashing every time i try and open it, I can draw a diagram of what Im talking about.

I have a toothbrush holder I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond to hold the 3 or 4 razors I use all the time. I also have a rack which is nothing more than a test tube holder, for my other 4 or 5 razors that I'll use from time to time. Both keep my razors in order and out of the way, yet in easy reach.  :001_rolle

As of now I only have about 6 DE razors. I picked up a couple of plastic travel cases from CVS and put them in those.

But I am in the middle of an experiment - I am a potter and used my wheel to make a razor stand that will hold 3 razors and one brush. It was a quick put something together deal that does not look very nice but works (well the glaze job is really not very good). So in my mind it's a prototype and in the next couple of weeks I am going to try my hand at it again and see if I can make one that I am not ashamed of putting out there for the world to see.

That's a great setup for razors that aern't in the rotation!

Currently mine are wherever there is room!

First of all, the Alice In Wonderland mug totally rocks!

My vintage razors (Gilettes dating as far as the 1920s) are in their cases. My more modern one (Merkur travel razor) is on a makeshift stand with my brush.
