hero razor

I was in another antique store today.....ok yes, I'm an old stuff junkie...
I saw what I thought was another early model GEM, but it was labeled HERO.
Has anyone out there heard of this type of razor before?

John

The Hero razor was sold by the Clark Blade & Razor Co. of Newark, NJ. It was similar to the Kampfe Star Cru-Steel lather catcher razor. It used regular single edge, ribbed back blades.

There is a picture of the razor in the L-W price guide on page 21.

Regards,
Tom

"Safety Razors, A Price Guide" is an out-of-print book that was published by L-W Book Sales in 1995.

The book has many good photographs of razors and, despite being rather out of date as a price guide, it is a very good reference if you can find a copy. You might check amazon.com. The last time I looked, there were some used copies listed.

Tom
