Made a travel case

I travel a lot for work and want to bring my wet shaving on the road. I started with ordering a few cheap vintage razor cases off of ebay and when none really fit what I wanted I started hunting for a small metal box. At an antique store I found a small jewelry box and here is my first attempt. Sculpey clay is fitted into the bottom so the razor, stand, brush, and blade case don't bash around and that then is covered in soft fleece fabric.

Does anyone else here make travel cases for their shave equipment? I enjoy crafting and I'd like to learn and improve.

Another attempt is this vintage case I modified to fit my Henson.

Aside from the flashy fabric, I find they look great. I am unfamiliar with the clay you used. Will it stay soft in the long term?

Groovy fabric!

Thank you, I try to have fun and not take myself too seriously. I thought about doing a more traditional red velvet or something but that seemed a bit stuffy so I went with a sillier fabric.

Sculpey is a polymer clay that gets baked in the oven to become hardened. Though it still maintains a little bit of flex and give as it's a polymer and not an earthen clay.

Our calibration lab where I work throws out miles/kilometers of black, dense, closed cell foam used to pack instruments.

I rescued some of the thinner pieces and bought a travel soap dish from Walmart. I use toothpicks to outline the razor and an X-Acto knife to cut out the outline. Different inserts can be made for longer or shorter handled razors. (these are for different Gillette’s)

I haven’t used any fabric over the foam yet, but I like that idea.

Oh this is very nice, great idea on the foam!

I recently got this travel case. It's not handmade or anything and doesn't hold a brush. But a razor with handle up to 90mm and a tuck of blades (5 blades) will fit nicely. The inside is some kind of hard foam. Reminds me of a mini gun case.

Oh this is very very nice. It does look like a gun case. Really packing the heat against scruffiness.
