Henkles SE razor

Tried this razor today and it did cut close...Does have "Max." on the handle...only a few minor nicks on the chin. The spiral guard is also free spinning as well!:001_smile

The spiral guard is a really neat feature. Sorry to hear you had a few nicks, I suppose that is to be expected on the first try.

Since it was designed for wedge blades, be extra careful with a modern SE or you WILL get nicks:wink2:

Based on what I've read about the Star razor on B&B, I'm not so sure about that....the side blade holders are spring type - not fixed - and the small front blade stops do prevent forward motion, just like an old Ever-Ready lather catcher I have (which supposedly were never made for wedge blades).

It does truly live up to the "Max." stamping on the handle!:scared:

henckels safety razors were originally designed to be used for wedge blades. true as toast :001_smile

A Star wedge blade is a perfect fit - but it doesn't project any more than a Gem SE - that spiral guard just doesn't provide much of a safety margin with either!

Think I'll go with a Fatboy tomorrow!:001_smile

But the angle of a wedge blade is different than with a SE:wink2:

I have access to an Optical Comparator at work - will do some measurement of various blade angles. The razor can be held differently to compensate for various blades.....
