HD with a cracked handle?

The other day, I was showing my Merkur HD to my dad, and after taking one glance at it, he casually pointed out "Looks like mine, but mine doesn't have a crack in it." It's right below the "neck" that connects the handle to the head of the razor, just a tiny crack going straight downwards, and stops at about where the textured grip starts. Apparently my skills of observation are not very sharp, because I've used this razor every day for months and have never noticed the crack before now. So, I have no way of knowing if it was there when I first bought it, or if it showed up sometime later.

I originally bought this HD new on Amazon, through one of the "Amazon Marketplace" sellers, before I ever knew about B&B or any our great wetshaving vendors. It's seen a lot of shaving, but I haven't dropped it or banged it on the sink or done anything out of the ordinary to it.

The crack doesn't affect the shave in any way, though I'm a little bummed that it's there and has completely escaped my notice. I don't think the Amazon seller would be willing to give me a trade on an item that's already seen several months of daily use. I'll email them just to see, but I'm not very hopeful that they'll offer to replace it.

Anyone else had this issue?

I have HEARD of it. Amazon is REALLY good about returns, you could certianly contact them, and see what they say.

If the retailer won't help due to the time elapsed, you could try contacting Merkur. There was a thread somewhere on B&B with their customer service person's contact info.

EDIT: Check out the first post in this thread.

I had the a crack in what sounds like the same place in a Merkur 37c Slant. I emailed Merkur, and they requested a photo of the crack. I sent them a photo, and they provided instructions on sending it back. I sent it back to Merkur and they sent me a replacement.
