groomsmen gifts

I'm off to my wedding rehearsal this evening and thought I'd share what my gifts were to my groomsmen/ushers, as they are shaving related.

All groomsmen received an Omega badger brush, and a tub of Cella soap. The best man and the older groomsmen received an Edwin Jagger DE89L razor, along with a sample pack of Wilkinson Sword, Shark, and Astra blades.

In place of the razor, the younger groomsmen received a VDH lather bowl/soap combo.

The Ushers received the VDH lather bowl/soap combo, tweezerman brush, and Speick shaving cream in tube.

I included a note in the gift bags explaining how I came to wet shaving, even pointing them to this web site (specifically the "how to make a great later" post). So here's hoping they enjoy the process as much as I have!

Congrats and best of luck!! Great gifts; better than anything I gave or received; but then I didn't know the joy of wet shaving them.

The gifts were well received, and the wedding went off without a hitch (well, ok, I did get hitched, pun intended). As I did the day I proposed, I started the day off with a nice shave - Cella + DR Harris Arlington, and a fresh Feather in my Merkur 23c! Thanks for all the well-wishes :)

As one of the recipients of these gifts I can say for sure they were well received. I am the groom's brother and best man at the wedding so got the EJ razor and Cella soap/cream (which is it?) and sample blades. Great gift idea! It's funny that I got my brother into this (or tried to) nearly 15 years ago when I gave him a badger brush and D.R Harris soap as a gift. Now I have to look to him for advice since it never occurred to me to try a DE razor. I even experimented with a straight razor for a while but never DE.

So far so good - I am seeing immediate results reducing skin irritation on my neck but I will need some practice to get the shaving closeness where I want it to be. I just registed for B&B and I'm sure I'll be back here looking for tips and advice. Cheers!

I too am giving my groomsmen a gently gift box for their service. :)

I took a good sized cedar cigar slide lid cabinet box, filled it with some hay to protect the goods. Inside, I put a bubinga handled Opinel knife with a mirror stainless blade engraved with their name. Also, an inexpensive Tech clone, a decent omega boar, and an H. Upmann Coronas Major cuban cigar in tube. Considering each gift box only cost me $45 dollars, I'd say I did pretty well. If they don't like the shaving goods, they can atleast display them in their bathroom.
