Final Razor purchase for 2010

Well this is the final purchase for 2010. I reckon I've probably bought somewhere between 600 and 700 razors this year if you add up all the DE's, SE's, Injectors and Straights. It's amazing that I still get really excited when I'm able to grab a baragain and then wait anxiously for it to arrive.

This is really a very nice find. My curiosity compels me to ask -- what do you do with the hundreds of razors you buy?

And my family members tell me I have issues . I think if I'm lucky I own maybe 20-ish or so razors regardless of the type. Good luck in '11 although I'm still trying to figure out where you guys hunt down all these razors. It can't all be eBay can it?

Man I was going to definitely bid on that one. Nice score! Hope you got the seller to end the auction for a fair price.

Wow, that is such a neat old razor! :thumbup1:

6-700 this year? That is awesome. I keep wanting to add a razor from the johnmrson collection to my own, but seem to keep showing up late to your BST threads. I will try harder this month. :001_smile

Nice score John! The etching looks in good condition!

Good score. Are the scales real tortoise?

I'm not sure but I don't think so. I think that they are horn made to look like tortoise. I don't know how to tell genuine tortoise scales. I'd really love to get a nice blade with genuine tortoise shell scales as I don't have any in my collection.

:w00t: Wow, I thought I had a bad case of SRAD, but you, Sir, are the king...

Very nice looking razor you picked for your last 2010 purchase. I bet that one will make your 'keep' list

Superb razor:thumbup:

I'd say it's horn.

Actually genuine tortoise is very rare in good condition.
One reason is that there is a few bug that just love to chew on tortoise.
The other is that they don't stand up very well over time, like ivory, horn or bone does.
They often flake and sort of peeling of in layers.

I have two in real tortoise & both are chewed & a bit flaked.

Anyway, a very nice way to end the year!

With 400 razors you have reached the ultimate set. With spares!
The 365 day set
