Fare thee well, Feather blades!

I have had it with the bloodthirsty blades with Feather on the pack.

So, in the trash they went.

I deluded myself thinking "If my technique was just better, I wouldn't look like Freddy Krueger after every shave."

You know what? Screw that.

I don't have to prove myself to a damn hunk of razor sharp steel.

So, I'm back to the Israeli Personnas. They work WITH me, and well.

FARE THEE WELL FEATHER! Maybe some archaeological expedition ages hence will find the 40+ of you huddled together and become amazed.

I don't care. I will be dead by then, and my face will not be cut to shreds.

It continues to amaze me the wide variations in results people get from de blades. For me Feathers are in a league of their own when it comes to having a smooth close shave

I could have written this post word for word including the bit about the IPs, except my 40 leftover Feathers are put away until I become eligible to post on the BST... hoping I can make back a little of what I spent on them. The pack I already opened will live under my sink for a year or so, when I will consider trying them again just to see if a year's practice makes any difference.

I like the Feathers, but I like my blue IPs too. Overall, even though they are not as sharp as the Feather, the IP pretty much ends up giving me the same BBS shave but for a fraction of the price. If I haven't shaved for a few days, the Feather would be my go to blade... it sure can mow down the growth!

That's the way!
I remember my first shave with the a Astra blade. It was horrible. Gave me the worst burn ever.
After 3 months I tried them again. They were really good, smooth without any irritations! I was shocked to be honest.
I remember hesitating trying Astras again, when I was about to pick a new blade. I just thought they are worthless.
I guess I improved my technique. Back then the blades probably just wanted to say:
"You're doing this the wrong way, Mac."
They sure gave back feedback.

+ 100K!!!!!! Postage to someone who could use these blades would have been less than a buck. Makes me feel like doing a PIF on a pack of Feathers just to offset the bad karma that comes with throwing away good shaving equipment.

While agree that a PIF would have made US feel better. I think the OP needed some cartharsis, some measure of revenge against the slight he feels he recieved at the hands of the Feather blades.

It's like breaking up with a girlfriend: PIFing the blades would be like helping the girl you just dumped to move her stuff in with her new boyfriend. No, sometimes one must simply throw the stuff out the window for proper closure in a relationship!

I think throwing out the Feather blades may have been a bit hasty, you could have traded them for something you'd like. However, certainly using what has traditionally is a good idea. I am reminded of a time where I was so frustrated with a piece of electronic gear, I smashed it to pieces with a hammer. Although I probably could have sold it or gave it away, it was SO therapeutic to see it demolished by my own hand. Anyway, do what makes you feel good and use what works well for you.

I'm more than tired of hacking my face to death with these feathers, merkur, gilette tech, edwin jagger, the result is the same. They RUIN my face. I'll glady take a pack of blue IP's for my remaining 8 feather blades. Care to trade?

Feathers were the sharpest blades I tried.

However, they just were not smooth and very unforgiving.

As with Astras, they are almost as sharp as Feathers and very smooth.
