What's new

Even shave vets change their minds on products once thought perfect.

IDK what it is, but.................

3 years in, I'm starting to dislike products I thought were infallible just one year ago.

Cade and P.160 in particular, are not shaving well.

It seems, even with my prized 38R loaded with a new Swede, I can't use these two soaps without nicking/cutting myself.

I love the smell and lathering capabilities of both, but, this isn't cutting it. :frown:

Same thing hapening to me with TOBS cream (maybe it's getting old, it has seen 6 months of daily use)

I wouldn't discard the soaps just yet, but bare in mind that with age our body does change (no matter how reluctantly we will admit it) - whereas the mind doesn't seem to move along at the same speed (in my case anyway :biggrin1:).

The skin change as well, and it will "stiffen", which means that maybe it would be worth while trying another blades.

Maybe your prep also need some adjustment to get the shave back on track.

Maybe you're just starting to get a bit complacent and not paying as much attention as you used to. Treat yourself to a couple of new products for Christmas to get a bit of a novelty factor back into your shave.

I don't want to sound perturbed and whiny, but........

1. My shaving skills are the highest they've ever been.
2. I use many different blades, and have tremendous success with them all.
3. I use many other soaps and/or creams, and have wonderful success with them as well.
4. My prep technique/routine is as dialed as it has ever been.

I guess I'm not looking for answers or explanations on why or how to make these soaps work well, I'm just guessing my chemistry and hair have changed such that these products have become incompatible with me.

I have to sever ties with P160/Cade soaps, move on, and let go of the past. :frown:

Maybe, I was looking for other people who might have had the same experience with the same or different products.

i find that switching every other day or so between two or three products keeps your skin thinking that the same old cream/soap is somehow different. :tongue_sm

Is this very recent? Could it be attributed to the 1st exposure of the season to the cold, dry air we are getting here in the Midwest?

I vote for buy more stuff :laugh::thumbup:

I'm not a vet, but I've been using TOBS creams for months and I have the same problems.

I love the scents and the way they lather, but I've been getting better shaves from $2 Van Der Hagan Deluxe shaving soap from Rite Aid, lol.

While I enjoy the same music now that used to set my soul aflame when I was younger, it doesn't speak to me in quite the same way. Why should something as personal as a preference in shaving soaps be immune from the changes brought on by the changing seasons in one's life?
