I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the Barbershop forum, but here goes...
I've noticed that when I come home from work, if I sit down with some reading, perhaps with dinner (yes, I live alone), I feel surprisingly re-energized afterward. I tend to feel refreshed and ready to enjoy the rest of the day. On the other hand, if I sit down and eat in front of the TV I sink and sink; any energy I might have had left oozes out of me and I tend to waste the rest of the day.
It's no big revelation that TV can induce lethargy, but the real point I want to relate is how reading seems to really do the opposite. Even if I come home dog-tired, I can refresh myself pretty effectively. I'm curious whether others have found this to be the case. I couldn't find much online about it- there's a lot about reading's positive effects on the mind, but I couldn't find much about the physical side effects of reading.
I still crash in front of the TV a lot more often than I'd like...
