edwin jagger silvertip w/ C.O. Bigelow

I've been using a BB brush with the C.O. Bigelow cream lately with awesome results (I love that cream!). Last night I decided to use my silvertip with the same cream for a more luxurious, Friday-night shave. I squeezed some cream out into my bowl, let my brush soak for a while, squeezed out the excess water and then started swirling. The cream seemed to suck into the brush and not lather in the bowl at all.

I've used this brush before with a cereal bowl and never had a problem. I'm using a Georgetown scuttle now which is a little bit smaller. Confused, I made a second batch of lather with some Speik and the same thing happened. I then decided to squeeze the lather out of the brush and then it seemed to work fine. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be soaking longer...leaving more water in the brush, etc?

My Kent BK4 will suck up the lather if I swirl it around the bottom of the bowl. I find that a pumping motion, like you're plunging a sink, followed by swirling around the sides of the bowl will start generating a nice lather.

+1 on both of these.

You might try doing just what your doing now, but adding just a bit more water. I've run into this same problem at times myself. I've tried adding either a bit more water or a bit more soap/cream. I think fooling around with your your mixture and technique will put you on the right path. :thumbup1::a11::a21:
