What's new

Dovo 6/8 Pearlex

Had my first shave with this dovo and it rated right up there in comfortability with my Kamisori. It is the most comfortable western straight that I've ever shaved with!

I don't think it's the razor as much as the edge.

Comfortability-lol.

Doc,
The only reason I would refute the edge vs. razor argument is I have received at least a few different "singing" razors (aka extra hollowish) honed by some highly reputable people and for me was an "uncomfortable" shave (aka slightly painful). My Kamisori as well as this particular Dovo was an extremely comfortable shave.
i welcome further comments!

I said it before and I'll say it again:

It's part science, part art, and part magic.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Although, I wouldn't consider the technology all that advanced, so I'll rule out magic. :001_tongu

it's got to be both the razor and the edge - just so many variables when you get down to it! even comparing the same mfg. razor to razor they won't be the same under a microscope or on your face? I'm just now able to rudimentarily (another sp wordy) look at edges with a 10x loupe and it's like a whole new world down there. ridges, scratches, bites, bends and that's the smooth razor :p

That might be the case for you, although a Kami and a Dovo Pearlex are very different.

I can't get very comfortable shaves with heavier grinds or wedges, I always end up with little weepers. I think I am used to fuller hollows and end up using more pressure hence the weepers.
