What's new

Double Ring pulled from the bay.

Had a good day today! Won a cased Double Ring on eBay. When I get it and figure out how to send photos I will post. Not bragging just sharing. Didn't think I would ever snag one. Probably use it a few times to say I have, then keep it a while.

Wow - what a great catch! I'm still keeping an eye out for one of these. I have a single ring that I love dearly and have been wanting to add a double ring to my collection.

Congratulations on a great score! I was very tempted to jump in the auction, but it was higher than I was willing to pay. Whenever it comes in, post some more photos for us. It looked like a really nice set.

Yes that photo is from the auction I won. When she ships in I'll clean her up and post. The final cost was less than I thought it would go for, was not expecting to win. I have had a double ring case for a while and was hoping to find a razor for it. This is better. :biggrin1:

Thanks for the reminder HighBall. My wife bought me a sliver dip cleaner kit with a aluminum plate and packets of tarnish remover. Sounds like the same process in a store kit. Due to the rarity of this razor I am open to any other tips on it's clean up and of the case as well. Thanks again in advance.

For what it's worth, here is a link to a thread that I did with a photo tutorial showing the baking soda/aluminum foil process that Mike mentioned above. The information is available in various places on the board, but I tried to distill some of the collective wisdom of the board into a post with some photos. The advantage to using this method is that it preserves as much silver as possible. It reverses the tarnishing process itself without removing any silver. Wether you should sparingly use a very light metal polish at the end is your decision. I've felt fine using the kind that I mentioned in the thread because I've used it on less common razors with no noticeable adverse effects. But I am very, very sparing with it. Typically, I can get razors 90-95% of the way to polished just using this process.

And, congrats again on your purchase. Be sure to post some before/after photos.
