What's new

Does anyone ever worry.

Does anyone ever worry about the knots we get from china freshly, like say TGN knots, not knocking them I love them actually there 2 band is my favorite knot.

Anyways, from the way my last one stunk I have to wonder is there a chance for spores of different diseases to infect these hairs on knots like this? I would imagine you are good from one of the manufacturers as they sanitize. Anyways just a thought that ran across my mind while using my new vintage ever ready this morning, great brush btw, alas it took forever to get rid of the stink.

Considering China's reputation, (toxic toothpaste ring a bell?) it is a legitimate concern. The problem is, from what I understand, all or most badger hair these days is brought in from China. I would love to know if there are any brush manufacturers that get their hair from other countries.

That was what I wanted to know as well.

As I understand it, brush manufacturers sterilize their hair. I don't worry. Then again, I have avoided and will continue to avoid brushes actually made in China.

Living in close proximity to the NASA Space center, I often worry about a large chunk of spacecraft debris coming right through my roof. Frequent are the times I wake up in a cold sweat the anxiety is so great......next on the angst list are those Chinese Badger borne diseases

Too many other things to be concerned about for me. This one is pretty far down, if not off, the list of things I worry about when shaving.

It reminds me a bit of the movie Contagion though. Who knows, maybe there is a slight risk of something, but it's there with everythying we do, eat, touch, smell or see in day to day life. I'm more worried about what goes on behind the counter when I order food from a restaurant and I still eat out regularly.

When I start hearing cases of guys contracting diseases from the use of their shaving brushes, I may start worrying..... but probably not even then. Badger hair aside, my children (and thousands other children) have had countless stuffed animals made in China shoved in their faces as infants and toddlers. They even stick the fabric in their mouths and drool all over them. I'd be more worried about Chinese disease with regard to that.... but even that doesn't keep me up at night.

When it comes to shaving brushes, my worries consist of: 1) which one next; and 2) how fast can I get it. Price should be a worry as well, but it typically isn't.

I've never given it any thought. Whenever I've had a new brush I first give it a couple of shampoo's in tea tree oil, followed by a rinse with tea tree conditioner. This has always worked fine, and never any problems.
