Do all Techs have the same head?

That's pretty much it: do all Gillette Techs use the same head? The handles change, but the head looks the same as far as I can tell. Then again, I'm working from pictures and about three samples.

The earliest Tech models (1939-1945ish) had a guard plate design that featured rounded triangular shaped slots. It also had a groove which ran the length of the guard into which the corner tabs of the cap rested. This version is slightly more aggressive than the newer versions.

The next version is the most common and ran from the post WWII era until the 1970's. It has straight slots in the guard plate. The guard plate also features notches to accept the corner tabs of the cap.

The later British Techs have a lightweight stamped guard plate and cap. The cap has beveled ends.

If I was at home I would try to show a comparison of the three styles. I will dig through my gallery and see if I can find some old shots to illustrate the differences. I have over 750 razor pictures so it may take a while.

Thanks! And here is one of the later beveled capped versions. I had forgotten about the US versions of this design. You do see these a lot in the newer travel sets.

Note that the guard plate on the beveled version has cutouts to accept the corner tabs instead of the insets that appear on the common version.

I wondered this as well, and compared some of my Techs. There is a noticeable difference between the earlier (pre-date code fat handle) and later (1959 ball tip) models in this picture. Compare the flat bottom piece to the curved later one -

I might also add that the later bevel caps are made of plated zinc and are much lighter then the earlier copper and brass caps.

I was curious if they would shave the same. At this point I have a fat-handled Tech, which I like; a mint nickel ball-handled Tech; and an aluminum-handled travel one. I should have noticed the beveled head difference, but they generally look pretty close.
