Gillette Slim Adjustable Owners...

I have a question concerning the head of the Gillette Slim adjustable razor.

On all of the Slim razors from the 60s, are all of the "edges" of the head supposed to be identical? I know the photo is of my Super Speed, but on the Slim, should all of these four protrusions (circled in green) be exactly the same?

I ask because on a couple of the Slims I've seen listed various places, it looks like one, sometimes two, of the four "edges" are differently shaped than the other ones. I didn't know if in some years that was the case, or if some of the ones I'm seeing have been worn down or chipped (I'm not sure how either of those are possible given the metal head)...therefore I should avoid purchasing those.

Thanks for any clarification you can give.

btw: I'm looking at the Slim because, even as a timid newbie, I enjoy my SSTTO more than the other two razors I've tried (Rockwell 6C, Parker Variant), so I figure why not pick up a Slim at some point

There were very minor changes made to the design on the Slim, or Adjustable Mark II as it was known in the UK, examples of which are shown below, but I do not believe the parts you indicate were among them. I am no expert so could be very wrong.

My exploding razor knows secrets
My J2 (1st gen doors) has one door with a squarer notch like the first pic.
They don't interact with anything (the opposite door or blade) and line up perfectly.
Wonder if the 1964 door revision makes them even?

I have Slims from very early (G4) to mid to late (L4). I do not see a difference in the doors at the positions indicated.
Awesome! Thank you very much for this information!

I'll stay away from any that have differences in the look of those four protrusions.

Now it's just a matter of finding one in very good condition at an excellent price. Not sure the going price is for one that's reasonably clean and in perfect working order, but I'm definitely going to do my research and find out.

You've been a great help!

I Just sold one on the bay and was able to see recent sales stats. I was surprised, a lot of sales for less than $30 for razors in great condition! and remember it was James Bond’s razor…oh and to the initial question on mine also no difference on the edges. I think if you are trying to land one online make sure you see it with both doors closed tight to check there is no bend or damage.

In a Peter Perfect world, they might be the same, the 60's ? well, maybe it wasn't so Peter Perfect?
the doors being ambidextrous came from the same die, or several of those dies, however the heck they were made? [it be nice to see the machinery] Die wear? different die? then there is a door swap? not uncommon.
to wear/chip/break that area will take some serious monkey magic, anyway does it really matter that they are not the same? no! purely esthetic, they serve no functional purpose other than to look good. If you feel they don't look good, bypass that one and move on to the next.
