Dirty Bird scuttle

I've been browsing through BnB today and for the first time ever heard of the dirty bird scuttles. I checked them out online and they are a whole lot different from the old scuttle I have. Mine is just a small porcelein I got from the bay. I had wanted a scuttle for some time now, and when I recieved it I was .... dissapointed to say the least. It stands 3 3/4" tall, and the top bowl cant even hold a puck of williams!!! So now I have a nice little decorative peice, but not really practical as far as I can tell. So after seeing the DBs I want one! Anyone that has one, or even a similar one like the moss, are they worth it? Could I comfortably place it in my travel bag and not worry it's gonna smash into a million peices? Any kind of input would be nice. I was looking at either the original or the 1.5 as I am a bowl latherer.

I have a 1.5, and it is a biiiig boy! They are quite sturdy and the 1.5 is heavy, so I don't recommend lugging it around for travel. I will say that I love it and is everything I could hope for. I don't keep the soap in the bowl myself, as I keep these in seperate glass bowls with lids and then use the top bowl to create my lather. Overall, I love mine and recommend it, although you may want the regular sized one if you plan on traveling with it.

Scuttles are heavy and not really travel items. If you do want to travel with it, wrap it well. For travel I would suggest a stainless steel bowl or even a plastic bowl.

Julie makes some of the best scuttles there are. The 1.5 is quite a big scuttle to be traveling with. You may just want to use a cheap plastic bowl to create your lather in when traveling or just face-lather. You may not go back to bowl/scuttle lathering.
Good luck.

As others have stated, the 1.0 and the 1.5 size are not meant for travel. They're about the size of cantaloupe (to put the actual size into perspective) and they are quite heavy. I read a thread on here last year where a member wrapped his in a towel for travel, and unfortunately, the scuttle didn't make it.
