May 18, 2017 #27 S Seattle Phil For a few decades, I only used Mitchum antiperspirant. However, I recently switched to using alum on my armpits. I was very concerned I would smell bad. (Since I enjoy being very clean). However, my T-shirts do not smell one bit. While the alum is not an antiperspirant, it kills the bacteria; thereb, thereby eliminating the smell associated with sweat. I have been using the alum for a month or two, with no problems. I have yet to see a downside of using the alum for deodorant.
