Denat. Alcohol in shaving cream?

In an A-S, I can understand the use of alcohol, but in a shave cream?

Wouldnt it be too drying for the shave?

Note that it says denat alcohold 38b (organic lavender)

What do you think?

I think I'll stay away from Aubrey Organics Creme de la Shave Toasted Almond.

Okay, sort of joking, but I don't know if this is something other than a petroleum ingredient. I've read that some alcohols in shaving products are actually fatty materials which are good for skin, but it doesn't seem denatured alcohol would be good.

Maybe one of our chemists can help explain?

Alcohol as the second ingredient, no less. From the sounds of it, the alcohol is infused with lavender, but I'd bet its real purpose is to emulsify all the oil ingredients at the end of the list. Still... the 2nd ingredient?!?!

Only thing to do is shave with it and let us know!

To add to what he said, if the alcohol is infused with lavender, it's likely alcohol distillation of the lavender to give you that scent. Given that there's a lot of moisturizing oils and things, I wouldn't worry too much unless you have problems with it drying your skin. Witch hazel is used distilled to have about 14% alcohol in it and people use on their faces for acne all the time without worrying that much.
