Delay in Dovo delivery

The other day I was drooling over some Dovo razors in a local store. The store owner told me that if I should like to order one of them, I would have to expect to wait 6 months before receiving it. I contacted Dovo directly and they confirmed this statement saing that it was due to huge backlogs in orders and capacity issues. I also asked them if it was possible to custom tailor a straight by putting scales from one line of razors on the blades of another line. I was informed that unfortunately this was not possible at the present time.

Sounds like you need to spend some time on the B&B BST!:thumbup1:

I heard the same.

Fortunately, there is no shortage of great blades out there. I would think that brand spanking new razors, new and NOS combined, represent a very small portion of our hobby and of the market. Whenever I use a 100 year old razor, it confirms the notion that our hardware is built for the long haul, so glitches in the supply chain or temporary shortages have little real effect on us, other than the perception of some ficticious upcoming shaving apocalypse.

We'll never run out of toys. :thumbup1:

You are quite right and Ouch is too, I only posted the above FYI. A shortage in supply of new goods could be due to a straight razor renaissance but unfortunately I will have to agree with the pessimists that the reason for the shortage is probably that some aged employees have retired.

A few days ago, I was on a trip to my visit my granny. On the way, I found a antiques shop that happened to have a beautifully decorated Rolls razor. It was outrageously expensive but it was just too cool to pass up so I bought it. I tried it the other day but I was quite underwhelmed by its performance. Apart from this, I picked up a nice Vintage swedish Soederen frameback with bakelite scales for about 10 bucks and what apears to be a vintage Heljestrand Wedge with polished steel scales for about 20 bucks. I will shortly be sending 6 razors to RasurPur for honing whereafter I will be busy shaving for quite some time. Thus, the new razors can wait:thumbup:.
